Fight Night Champion

Fight Night Champion: View 5

Do you want to know what it feels like to have a boxing glove leave a lasting impression on your face, literally? But at the same time do you not want to be an actual boxer? Fight Night Champion’s your best bet to reconcile these two criteria. This fifth instalment from EA’s unendingly realistic boxing-game series is definitely the best yet. This review can do nothing but argue in this game’s favour: substantially improved controls, better gameplay mechanics, a story mode, and sophisticated AI make it impossible not to lay praise on this game. There are flaws of course, but you’ll have to read on to discover how this game errs, yet still manages to be one of the weightiest boxing titles out there.

Punch Out

Punch Out: View 5

Nintendo’ Punch Out series of games dates back to the days of old-school gaming and the NES. Punch Out for the Nintendo Wii is the fifth instalment of the series, and it brings with it the same classic style as its predecessors, only with 13 brand new fighters for you to test your skills against. The Wii controls are self-explanatory, but suffice to say it’s fantastic to mimic the actions of a boxer in your living room, while being constantly challenged by the game’s 13 opponents, each with their unique fighting style requiring you to constantly adapt your strategy.  Great graphic also underpin this classic boxing title, which I have reviewed in more detail here.
